There was a little shack of a bar in Cabo San Lucas that served the best fish tacos. Poncho, the bartender, had a deal with me—if I brought him a couple of fresh mahi-mahi from my morning fishing trips, he’d pour me the remnants of whatever drinks he was mixing.

Back then, Cabo was still a sleepy fishing village, but the drinks at this spot were world-class. Poncho’s specialty? The margarita. He’d whip up frozen versions for the tourists passing through on their way to the Giggling Marlin, but for me, it was always a beautiful, on-the-rocks margarita. It used to be called a Cadillac Margarita, but in truth, it was just a perfect classic.

Each time, as he poured, he’d say the same thing: “This is my father’s favorite recipe.” And he was right—nowhere in Cabo did it get any better. We hope we’ve captured the essence of Poncho’s father’s recipe in the Liquid Zero Margarita—a true classic, just the way it should be.

But as we sat there, we laughed, we talked, and, without realizing it, we had one of the best birthdays ever.

Decades later, it remains one of my most cherished memories. The Liquid Zero Old Fashioned was created for moments like these—the ones that remind you to pause, reflect, and truly take in life. A drink that invites you to slow down and put everything into perspective.

My favorite mojito came from a bartender in Whalers Village, Maui. He made plenty of great drinks, but his mojito had the perfect balance of mint and tartness—a sip of pure happiness that instantly made me feel both refined and barefoot in the sand.

The best drink to have in a tropical hotel lobby? A mojito. Muddled lime, fresh mint, sugar, and rum—the simple, perfect combination. And that’s exactly what we’ve created with the Liquid Zero Mojito—a drink designed for the moment right before everything gets amazing. When I met Taylor, she was quite fond of vodka—like, really fond of it. One night, we were deep in conversation, and she had definitely had a bit too much to drink. We were at a trendy bar, laughing and enjoying our cocktails when my buddy decided he'd had enough. Instead of excusing himself gracefully, he slid off his chair and nodded off, knees tucked up against the bottom of the bar. Somehow, he managed to avoid hitting his head on the way down, finding an oddly comfortable spot below eye level of the bartender. It was late, and no one seemed to notice.

Taylor then suggested we grab some coffee to sober up. And that’s when it happened—the birth of the Espresso Martini. Sure, she simply poured her coffee into her martini, but that sparked a conversation about the best Espresso Martini we’d ever had. Mine was in a hotel lobby bar after a long day of shucking oysters. Taylor’s? It was after a blind first date with a bartender. Naturally, I wanted to make sure we could recreate that bartender-quality cocktail at home. And so, the Liquid Zero Espresso Martini was born.
